Team USA Continues Second Half of the Sliding Season

World Cup
INNSBRUCK, AUSTRIA (January 19, 2024) - Team USA headed to Innsbruck, Austria for this weekend’s World Cup division races.
In Women’s Monobob, Kaysha Love earned a silver medal with a two-run time of 1:48.45. Elana Meyers Taylor placed sixth with a time of 1:48.96. Sylvia Hoffman and Kaillie Armbruster Humphries placed 11th and 14th, with respective times of 1:49.33 and 1:49.61.
In 2-Man Bobsled, Frankie Del Duca and Charlie Volker placed fourth with a time of 1:42.23.
In 4-Man Bobsled, Del Duca, Carsten Vissering, Volker and Dylan Gilbert placed tenth with a time of 1:41.54.
In 2-Woman Bobsled, Meyers Taylor and Jasmine Jones placed fourth with a time of 1:44.76, followed by Love and Emily Renna in fifth with a time of 1:45.03, Hoffman and Sadie McMullen placed seventh with a time of 1:45.10, and Armbruster Humphries alongside Lolo Jones placed tenth with a time of 1:45.24.
Para Sport World Cup
Two sets of Parabob races took place in Lillehammer, Norway this week as part of the ongoing IBSF Para Sport World Cup.
In the first set of races, Will Castillo slid into an exciting first-place finish in Race 1 with a time of 1:52.52. Bob Balk placed fifth with a time of 1:52.84. Austin Parker placed 13th with a time of 1:53.88, Dan Rizzieri placed 15th with a time of 1:54.25 and Gabi Cha placed 16th with a time of 1:54.92. In Race 2 of the first set of races, Balk placed second with a time of 1:52.11, Castillo placed fourth with a time of 1:52.20, Parker placed 13th with a time of 1:53.21, Rizzieri placed 15th with a time of 1:53.48, and Cha placed 17th with a time of 1:55.04.
In the second set of races, Balk placed seventh in Race 1 with a time of 1:52.43, Castillo placed eighth with a time of 1:52.46, Rizzieri placed 15th with a time of 1:53.57, Parker placed 17th with a time of 1:53.61, and Cha placed 17th with a time of 1:53.83. In Race 2 of the second set of races, Castillo placed fourth with a time of 1:52.28, Balk placed eighth with a time of 1:52.59, Park placed 15th with a time of 1:53.32, Rizzieri placed 16th with a time of 1:53.36, and Cha placed 17th with a time of 1:54.26.
Jr. World Championships
Team USA took part in the Skeleton Junior World Championships held in St. Mortiz this week. In the Men’s Skeleton division, Noah Park placed 30th with a time of 1:12.41, Baden Park placed 32nd with a time of 1:12.89, and Lukas Kissell placed 33rd with a time of 1:13.04. In the U20 division, N. Park placed 15th and B. Park placed 17th.
North American Cup
In Park City, Utah, the North American Cup (NAC) skeleton team began the second half of their sliding season with two days of racing on home ice.
In Race 1 for the men, Andy Whittier placed second with a time of 1:38.42. Bradley Nicol placed 10th with a time of 1:39.71, Nick Brooks placed 20th with a time of 1:41.50, Tyler Lutz placed 21st with a time of 1:41.91, Dylan Burris placed 24th with a time of 1:42.77, and Tyler Madl placed 25th with a time of 1:43.27.
In Race 2 of Men’s Skeleton, Whittier won gold with a run time of 1:37.07. Nicol placed eighth with a time of 1:38.64, Lutz placed 15th with a time of 1:39.99, Brooks placed 19th with a time of 1:40.83, Burris placed 24th with a time of 1:41.58 and Madl placed 26th with a one-run time of 51.36.
In Race 1 of Women’s Skeleton, Kendall Wesenberg won gold with a time of 1:40.62. Sha’Londa Terry placed sixth with a time of 1:42.94, Hannah Gaskins placed seventh with a time of 1:43.15, Logan Wudi placed 11th with a time of 1:43.87, and Liesel Baker placed 12th with a time of 1:43.95.
In Race 2 for the women, Wesenberg again secured gold with a combined run time of 1:39.63, Gaskins placed seventh with a time of 1:42.44, Baker placed eighth with a time of 1:42.45, Terry placed ninth with a time of 1:42.72, and Wudi placed 11th with a time of 1:43.12.
