USA Sliders Take on Yanqing and Whistler Tracks

YANGQING, CHINA (November 24, 2024) - USA Bobsled/Skeleton competed in races in both Yanqing, China and Whistler, Canada this week.

The World Cup Skeleton team competed in the Yanqing World Cup race held on November 23rd. In the women’s division, Mystique Ro placed tenth with a two-run time of 2:06.07. Katie Uhlaender placed 16th with a time of 2:06.83. Sara Roderick and Kelly Curtis placed 19th and 24th with respective times of 2:07.45 and 2:09.13. In the men’s division, Austin Florian placed 14th with a time of 2:03.34, Dan Barefoot placed 21st with a time of 2:04.87, and Hunter Williams placed 29th with a one-run time of 1:04.45.

The North American Cup (NAC) circuit kicked off this week in Whistler. Races will continue on the 25th through the 29th. So far, Team USA has competed in four races on the world’s fastest track, with 2-Man and Monobob races on the 22nd that also counted for the Pan American Championships followed by a second set of races on the 23rd. Women’s Monobob, Riley Tejcek placed fourth in the Pan American Championships and North American Cup on the first day of competition with her two-run time of 1:54.45. On the second day, Lauren Brzozowski placed fourth with a run of 1:52.47 while Tejcek’s 1:53.09 run earned her sixth place.

In 2-Man Bobsled, Geoff Gadbois and Collin Storms placed second in the Pan American Championships and North American Cup on the first day of competition with their run of 1:46.47, followed by Kris Horn and Hunter Powell’s fourth-place 1:46.89 run and Grady Mercer/David Rodriguez placed eighth with a time of 1:48.15. On the second day of NAC races, Gadbois and Boone Niederhofer placed second with a time of 1:45.76, followed by Mercer and Brandon Jetter’s eighth-place 1:47.34 run and Kris Horn/Martin Christofferson’s 1:47.62 run.
