PARK CITY, UTAH (February 17, 2025) – The leadership and governance structure for the 2034 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Organizing Committee was officially announced by Utah Governor Spencer Cox and U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) CEO Sarah Hirshland during a press conference on Friday, February 14.

Among the six representatives named to the initial executive committee is Team USA bobsled Olympian Chris Kinney, who currently serves as an Athlete Advisory Committee (AAC) representative for USA Bobsled/Skeleton and a member of the Bobsled Selection Committee. He joins Olympic champion Lindsey Vonn and Fraser Bullock, the leader behind Utah’s Olympic bid, in shaping the future of the Games.

“I’m excited to be part of the executive committee for the Salt Lake Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games. Utah has a rich winter Olympic tradition, and as an athlete who’s competed there many times, it’s thrilling to be involved in a home Games that will showcase the beauty of Utah, a state whose gorgeous landscapes have captured my heart. I hope the rest of the world will get to see what I see through the world’s most phenomenal sporting event,” shared Kinney.

USA Bobsled/Skeleton is extremely proud of Kinney and honored to have one of its alumni serving in such a critical role for the 2034 Games. Salt Lake City holds a special place in the team’s history, as the 2002 Winter Olympics was an especially historic and memorable Olympics for USA Bobsled/Skeleton. The return of the Games to Utah presents an incredible opportunity to celebrate and build upon that legacy.

The executive committee is tasked with overseeing the organization and execution of the Games, ensuring compliance with Olympic regulations, and working closely with international federations. With Utah’s world-class Olympic venues already in place, the committee’s focus will be on fostering the Olympic spirit in communities across the state over the next nine years.
